The bird list for San Carlos is 218 and growing. The Pinal Mountains, lakes, ponds and rivers, and chaparral and forests make this area a welcome habitat for birds and birders. Several Apache guides offer birding services.

Seen and on the bird list: a Laughing Gull was spotted on San Carlos Lake. Birders have reported Bald Eagles, female Greater Scaup and three species of gull, osprey, White-faced Ibis and may others, including a soaring Zone-Tailed Hawk.
